National Identity

Do we have one? Is anyone proud to be American do we say or display it? Flag Day came and went not many flags. I went to Walmart not to participate in Obama's deepening recession. Has our historic and remarkable leader changed our standing in the world? Is there more or less pride in you own heart about being American? Do you see symbols of American pride on TV or in the Newsmedia or anything coming out of Hollywood? I will be honest I have more pride when flying my Gadsden Flag and my Confederate Battle Flag than the Stars and Stripes. The fact is the men and women in charge in America today hate the flag and all the sacrifices made for it and this nation. Even still when I see the Stars and Stripes rippling in the wind it makes me smile then the fact of the last sentence takes that smile away. So I fly the other flags knowing that men in this country fought off their oppressors under these banners and maybe one day we will be able to also. Obama campaigned on the pledge to bring America's standing in the world back again. I guess he does not care what we here in America think of where we stand.

A poem by Father Dennis O'Brien:

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to
demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose
coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

If I may add my own finishing line:
It is the Second Amendment that keeps these rights and freedoms possible

Sunday June 14th was the 234th birthday of the army; no fanfare or parades did you even know, did you care?
